The Battle of Gowanbrae & The Champion's Dinner
Summer 2016, we are hosting two NEW major events for St. Marys Golf & Country Club golfers that could make Summer 2016 one of the the best golf summers of all time. We are lucky to have this community asset and want to celebrate the past, present and future of the Country Club with our members, game pack players and green fee players. Here are the events, with details, that you don't want to miss:
The Battle of Gowanbrae
Date: July 8th and 9th, 2016 (Golf Friday Night + Saturday Afternoon)
Where to Register: Outside the Pro Shop (by EOD Tuesday, July 5th)
HOW IT WORKS:
- 1. PICK A PARTNER that is within 9 Shots of Your Handicap,
- Partner can be a member, past member, 20-Game Packer, Men’s League Player OR a “Someday” Member (with a good story!). Non-members: appropriate green fees apply,
- Teams will be divided into six handicap flights,
- Each team plays four (4) 9-Hole Matches, two on Friday evening and two on Saturday, against the other four teams in their flight,
- Points are awarded for each match to determine the winner of each flight,
- The Winner of each flight will then participate in a 3-Hole Shootout to determine The CHAMPION of the Battle of Gowanbrae!
- The Winner of Each Flight will be honoured at the Champion’s Dinner the Saturday Night,
- And...The CHAMPION Team wins Customized SMGCC Golf Bags!

HOW IT WORKS: We are having a night out for St. Marys Golf & Country Club Members, Game Pack Players and Golf League Participants and their families, where we will enjoy a fabulous dinner prepared by Head Chef Jason and his team, celebrating the Country Club and 2015 Champions of: The Men’s and Ladies’ Golf League Team Champions Men’s & Ladies’ Club Champions (both Net and Gross), Junior Club Champions (All Age Categories), Match Play Champions (Net and Gross) ...PLUS, much more!
