The inaugural Battle of Gowanbrae at the St. Marys Golf & Country Club was a huge success. We had 60 golfers participate in the weekend golf event, spread over 5 divisions: A, B, C , D and Ladies. It's a 2-person team golf showdown where we played four 9-hole matches against teams in the same division, based on golf handicaps. Each match was worth 4 points which went towards each team's total. The four 9-hole matches were followed by a three-hole shootout on Holes 16, 17 and 18, which included the five winning teams of each division. We had golf members, game pack players and green fee players participate. The division winners were as follows:

A: Dan Murrell and Jim Craigmile

B: Scott Kemp and Ken Hutton

C: Wayne Ross and Tom Charette

D: Bill Taylor and Bernie Kaufman TIED with Roger Quinn and Matt Staffen

Ladies: Marian Canning and Janis Kapp

The five division winners participated in the 3-hole golf shootout and the winners of the shootout were Wayne Ross and Tom Charette, champions of the first ever Battle of Gowanbrae! The winners receive Ping golf bags with their names engraved into the bags, courtesy of Soleil Food Service (Greg Thompson). The Ladies' champions also receive Ping golf bags with their names engraved into the front of the bags!

Following the Battle of Gowanbrae on Saturday night, we hosted our first annual 'Champion's Dinner' in the beautiful banquet hall, celebrating the Club golf champions from 2015. We had 64 people come out for a full course dinner, prepared by Head Chef Jason Skipper and his team. The golf Champion's were presented with personalized plaques, awarding their accomplishments as Club Champions. Here are a list of the Club Champions from 2015:
