These are some of the major changes that have been happening at the St. Marys Golf & Country Club over the past six months, since the end of last golf and wedding seasons.
As a family-owned golf course and special event facility, we are focused on continual investment back into this incredible community asset. While most other golf courses focus on expense cutting due to declining industry revenues, we pride ourselves on being able to provide a high-quality, updated golf course in combination with incredible banquet facilities for weddings, business meetings and other special events, that are unparalleled in the local industry. And this is all because of our great customers: YOU!
This past winter we built a brand new 8,000 + sq. ft. maintenance and golf cart storage facility beside our current clubhouse for our Superintendent, Sandy Fifield, and her grounds crew. The new space will be home to our fleet of 76 golf carts and various other maintenance equipment. One-quarter of the space is occupied by a heated shop for maintenance during the offseason, which includes a turf maintenance lift for Service Tech. Brett.
The growth of our wedding and event business over the past three years since the renovation of 'The Ballroom' wedding and event space has blown away expectations. As leaders in the wedding and event industry in St. Marys, Stratford and area, we recognized an opportunity to expand our special event services and grow our business into new markets such as London, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph and even Toronto. Capitalizing on the rustic wedding trend, we have renovated a new rustic wedding venue featuring a wood ceiling with wood trusses, built originally in 1963. The incredible new wedding space, named 'The Hideaway' combines a rustic, wood vibe with elegant features, including four chandeliers and a bridal suite for brides and their wedding parties. The seasonal wedding venue is already selling out for Summer 2017!

We replaced eight of our 76 golf cart fleet with Yamaha golf carts from Canadian Cart Sales, featuring rain-hoods.
Already strapped by parking constraints, in combination with the addition of the Hideaway special event space, we decided to add an additional 80 + parking spots to accommodate our golf members, golf tournaments, weddings, meetings and other events occurring simultaneously. In addition, we are re-paving our current parking lot with brand new asphalt!
What we are most proud of, outside our buildings, however, is the addition of a solar-powered (green) light, run 100% by solar-energy.

With over half of our 18 golf holes either touching or crossing Trout Creek, we have a number of bridges throughout the golf course, many of which have been a part of the identity of the golf course for many years. With feedback from our golf membership base, we recognized the need for fixes / renovations to our various bridges throughout the golf course. We provided additional, re-enforced support and added cement ramps to most of our bridges.
Almost 120 golfers took Part last Wednesday at the Country Club and the annual Senior Men’s Golf Invitational tournament was decided in a playoff for the second year in a row.
