Local Teams Fair Well in SMGCC Ladies' Fall Scramble

The St. Marys foursome of Loretta Czernis, Linda Cooke, Marie Stevens and Kathy Switzer won the ‘B’ Flight in the Ladies Fall Scramble last Thursday at St. Marys Golf and Country Club.
A total of 124 golfers on 31 teams took part.
The Czernis team finished with a five-under-par score of 67 in the Texas Scramble format. The St. Marys entry of Amie Shackleton, Patty Hearn, Linda Wydeven and Barb Cornish placed second in ‘B’ Flight with a three-under 69.
Laura Vermunt’s team from the Widder Station course took top honours in ‘A’ Flight with a six-under 66. They won by retrogression.
The day’s top teams received gift certificates for shopping at different stores in St. Marys and Stratford. “I thought it was a really nice idea,” Czernis said.
