Dear SMGCC Golf Members,

As many of you are aware, Golf Ontario (GO) (formerly the Ontario Golf Association (OGA)) significantly raised their membership fees a couple of years ago, leading to the withdrawal of the St. Marys Golf & Country Club, and many area Ontario golf courses from the Association. As a result, our members have been unable to track their official handicaps on the Golf Canada website. While many members continued tracking their approximate handicaps on Chronogolf, those members requiring official handicaps for GO-sanctioned tournaments had difficulty registering for those golf tournaments.

After a lengthy phone discussion, the GO has stated that they recognize the problem and have promised a more flexible pricing solution in the future. In the interim, the St. Marys Golf & Country Club will join the GO for 2016 and now 2017 at the minimum level, allowing those members who wish official handicaps to purchase Golf Canada memberships at our cost of $30.25 (+ HST), compared to with the individual Golf Canada membership cost of $49.95.
