RANKED #9:
HOLE 9 — Drive From the Tips
This drive was supposed to become easier when the tee blocks were moved inward from beside Queen Street. However, danger still looms on all sides. From the tips, golfers playing the blues must be wary of a shot veering right, where they risk hitting a passing vehicle’s windshield or landing in the McDonald’s drive-thru. A pull to the left isn’t much better, as it could drift into Hole 8 fairway. Adding to the challenge is Birches Creek, which winds through the bottom of the hill, posing a distance test for shorter hitters. Framed by beautiful trees and newly installed bunkers on the right, the fairway presents a picturesque yet perilous scene. The striking backdrop of the onsite luxury hotel The Penrose Suites adds to the grandeur, making a well-placed drive down the middle all the more rewarding, with guests watching on from their verandas. If you manage to keep it straight and clear the creek, you'll be nicely positioned for an ascending approach shot to the 9th green.
