HOLE 10 — Going for the Green on a Par 4
Call me ignorant. Call me reckless. But don’t call me Curly. Hole 10, known as Curly’s Marsh, is one of the most intriguing golf holes on the course and can be played in two ways—smart or careless. The smart play is a mid-iron or hybrid to the fairway stretching west to east, setting up an approach shot from 80 to 125 yards over Trout Creek to the soccer-ball-shaped green. The careless play is going for it right off the tee. Tee it high and let it fly. If you choose to live dangerously, you must get the ball high enough to clear the trees to the left of the tee blocks, and hit it over 200 yards to clear the trees on the other side of the river. Many have tried, but few have succeeded. If you get lucky, you might hit the green, setting up a putt for eagle. But you won’t know until you get there—so bring an extra ball.
