St. Marys Golf Team Can Clinch Spot in Ontario Golf Provincials August 9 on Home Course

The St. Marys Men’s Ryder Cup team is in first place in its current Senior Ryder Cup competition. The St. Marys team, all golf members of the St. Marys Golf and Country Club, are playing other teams from Shelburne, Pike Lake (Clifford) and Blackhorse (Kincardine) golf clubs.
St. Marys began the ‘North Region’ golf competition in Shelburne June 14. They moved into top spot after strong performances at Pike Lake (June 27) and Blackhorse (July 11). Eleven players have represented St. Marys Golf & Country Club Club in the competition. They are: Rich Parsons, Rick Fifield, Wayne Ross, Jimmy Craigmile, Jonathan Rittenhouse, Merlin Malinowski, Tom Warren, Greg Thompson, Bob Mills, Neil Dust and Mark Cuthbert. Rittenhouse is team captain.
The final golf match is Tuesday, Aug. 9, and the St. Marys team can clinch a berth in the provincials in St. Catharines with a win on their home course. The Chapman format will be used that day.
Ace for Rittenhouse
Jonathan Rittenhouse recently recorded his second ever hole-in-one and first at the St. Marys Golf & Country Club. Early Saturday morning, July 2nd, Rittenhouse aced the par 3 No. 11 hole. He hit his shot 175 yards from the White Tees with a Hybrid 5. Rittenhouse said he “didn’t see it go in the hole.”
