Repeat winners...and both are left-handers.
SMGCC golf members Jake Watt and Jordan Jarrett, both 17, won their respective Junior Club golf titles for the third time last Tuesday at St. Marys Golf and Country Club.
Watt, who turns 18 next month, shot an 80 (38-42) to win the boys side. He had birdies on No. 2 and No. 4. “My short game was pretty good today,” he told the Journal Argus. “I did a good job of getting out of trouble when I got into trouble.”
Mitch Watt, 16, Jake’s younger brother, was defending Junior boys champion, but was unable to play this year because of injury. Mitch defeated Jake in a one-hole playoff (No. 17) last year.
Jarrett won her third straight title with a 79 (39-40). She had one birdie, on the par 5 No. 8 hole. “Both my driving and putting were good today,” she said.
Age Division Winners
Peyton Lobb claimed the boys 10-and-under category with a 48 over nine holes. Nate Schiedel and Kiefer MacNeil both had 53s and Brock Chessell had a 54.
The 11-12 boys title went to Jimmy Schiedel, who shot a 50 (also over nine holes). Ben Richardson (51) was second, Will Boreham (55) was third and Jack McCotter (57) fourth.
Charlotte Clinton won the girls 12-and-under division with a 49 (six holes), one shot better than Kiara McGregor.
For the second year in a row, Sam Watt took the boys 13-14 division with an 83 (41-42). Sam Bolton was second with an 88 (44-44).
Ian Bolton won the boys 15-16 division with an 84 (39-45). He had a birdie 2 on No. 7. Bolton also won the division last year.
For the second straight year, Robyn Lewis finished second to Jarrett in the girls division.
